Our Story
First-hand experience sparked the development of Firstbase.
When yet another first date didn’t eventuate because landing on an agreed activity proved too difficult, Will Parsons, a Gold Coast based electrician and professional boxer, first ideated an app that would match people on who they were and what they liked to do as opposed to how they looked or where they lived.
Will had been on a string of dead-end dates with matches that looked great, but when it came down to meeting, their shared interests fundamentally didn’t line up and most dates didn’t eventuate.
There were countless hours spent trying to get to know the person and understand whether there was a connection. Going back and forth, asking and answering the same questions became too frustrating.
He canvassed his male and female friends and came to the realisation that he wasn’t alone. They were also sick of wasting their precious time (and hard-earned cash) on dates that had a pre-prescribed expiry because they were never set-up correctly in the first place.
Will was motivated to find that special person, and help others do the same, so he took matters into his own hands.
